A service designed to work for more people.

We want our website, application and customer account to work for everyone, on common devices and with assistive technology.

Our standard

We design and test our website against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the international accessibility standard. An independent audit is being arranged, and we will fix anything it finds.

What we build in

Keyboard use

You can reach every control in a sensible order, see where you are, and use it without a mouse.

Screen readers

Headings, page regions, field labels, table headers, status messages and clear link text help assistive technology.

Easy to read

Strong contrast, text that can grow, pages that fit any screen, and nothing that relies on colour alone.

Clear forms

Instructions come before you need them, errors say which field and how to fix it, and we avoid time limits or explain them.

Less movement

Decoration respects your reduced motion setting, and you never need animation to understand or finish anything.

Other ways to get help

You can ask for help or a document in another format without losing your place or your rights.

Known limitations

  • Our pages have not yet been independently audited against WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
  • Other providers' services, like identity and bank checks, may work differently from our own pages.
  • If something does not work for you, our support page has other ways to get help.
We stay responsible

We choose and set up our providers carefully, and we offer another way to do things if a provider's part of the process does not work for you.

Ask for help or another format

You can ask for help with an application, a large-print or accessible document, a National Relay Service call, or another way to talk to us. You do not need to tell us more about a disability than you want to. Use our support page to get in touch.

How to tell us about a problem

  • The page or step where it happened.
  • What you were trying to do, and what happened.
  • If you are happy to, the device, browser or assistive technology you used.
  • How you would like us to reply, or the format you need.
  • Please do not include passwords, codes or identity documents.
You can still complain

Telling us about an accessibility problem never stops you making a complaint, and never affects your hardship, privacy or other rights.
