Check these before you borrow
Ask for the full cost
Ask your doctor or hospital for the expected fees, and how much Medicare and your health fund will pay back.
Check your cover
Your health fund may cover more than you think. Ask about the gap and your excess before treatment.
Ask about a payment plan
Many practices and hospitals let you pay over time, often with no interest.
Public hospitals
Treatment in a public hospital is free with a Medicare card. Ask your GP whether the wait is reasonable for you.

Questions
Can I use it for a hospital excess?
Yes. A one-off excess or gap payment is a common use. Check with your health fund first, so you borrow only what you need.
Do you need my medical records?
No. We ask what the loan is for, but we don’t need your medical records or details of your treatment.
What if the cost changes?
Ask for a full quote before you apply, so you can choose the right amount from the start.
Can I pay it off early?
Yes. You can repay early at any time, with no early repayment fee. You only pay interest for the time you have the money.
